Evesham.info is part of my project to improve communications between local authorities and the residents of Evesham.
The aim of this site is to give a simple, one-stop shop interface to key local data, including planning applications and roadworks notifications.
This website isn't sponsored by any commercial organisation and receives no funding from any local authority.
In the interests of transparency, I should make it clear that I am an elected member of Evesham Town Council. However, this website is entirely independent of my role as a councillor, and contains no internal council information. Everything published here is already publicly available elsewhere - all this website does is pull it together in a more convenient format.
As stated above, this site has no external source of funding. Although the running costs are low, they are still more than zero. The adverts exist to offset those costs, and possibly to make a small profit.
In this context, it's wiorth noting that the advertisers are almost all based outside Evesham, but I live in Evsham. That means that the advertising revenue from the site brings money into the local economy (since I spend money in Evesham). It may mot be much, but every little helps!
Roadworks data comes from Worcestershire County Council's data updates.
Planning application data comes from Wychavon District Council's Planning Portal.
I've also integrated some third-party sources of data, such as local problems reported via FixMyStreet. Other useful information may be added in due course.
Planning applications are required by law to be public. The basic information (eg, applicant's name and address, the nature of the proposal and the eventual decision) is public data and may be freely distributed. Plans, drawings and other documents related to the appliaction are the copyright of their authors and are not published here - to see them, you will need to click through to the individual application pages at Wychavon's website.
Roadworks information is also public data. The content is factual information that is published by Worcestershire County Council for the benefit of residents and other road users.
Other information (eg, FixMyStreet reports) is from sources published under a licence (such as Creative Commons) which permits redistribution.
The visual design of the site uses the Foundation responsive framework.
The underlying structure of the site is constructed on a lightweight object oriented framework using the Savant3 templating system.
Design and programming are by Mark Goodge.
No animals were harmed in the creation of this website, but large numbers of coffee beans gave their lives for the cause.
